Why You’ll Fit Right In.

You have a good sense of adventure and are willing to try new things. We’re looking for open-minded leaders who take a systematic approach to their work, have strong critical thinking skills and are passionate.

Child Wellbeing Coordinators (CWC’s) are based in local health districts (LHD) and support health workers and services in preventing abuse and neglect and responding early, whenever a child safety, welfare or wellbeing concern is raised.

CWC’s assist and advise health workers to respond to vulnerable children, young people and families they come into contact with during their work. CWC’s advise, support and educate Mandatory Reporters to help them determine the level of risk to a child or young person and to plan what initial action may need to occur, including ensuring all suspected risk of significant harm (ROSH) matters are reported to the Child Protection Helpline.

CWCs are available to advise health workers about CWUs and have a detailed understanding of entry points into local health services. They respond to complex cases involving vulnerable families, children and young people within the LHD, as referred on by the CWU. They also work closely with other Government departments and agencies, providing advice about referral pathways and information sharing.

CWC’s provide a coordination function across LHD’s to improve responses to vulnerable children, young people and their families, particularly where concerns are raised by mandatory reporters via Child Wellbeing Units (CWU). CWC’s coordinate and provide Child Protection Education training to MLHD mandatory reporting staff.
