This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.

About the Opportunity
As the Midwifery Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating patient services, leading midwifery teams, and ensuring exceptional, evidence-based intrapartum care. Your leadership will uphold safety, quality, teamwork, and patient-centred care across the unit.
In this influential position, you will:
- Lead, direct, and coordinate high-quality midwifery care in the Birthing Suite
- Foster collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork to enhance patient outcomes
- Create a culture of enquiry, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional development
- Manage resources human, physical, and financial to ensure safe and efficient service delivery
- Drive performance improvement, patient flow, and achievement of key clinical KPIs
- Maintain a safe, positive, and professional environment for staff, patients, and visitors
- Support the development, growth, and wellbeing of midwifery staff through effective leadership

About You
You are an experienced midwifery leader who demonstrates integrity, resilience, and a commitment to clinical excellence. You bring strong decision-making skills, a patient-focused mindset, and the ability to lead teams through change.
You will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife (Division 1) with AHPRA
- Extensive recent clinical experience in intrapartum care and contemporary midwifery practice
- Tertiary qualifications in management (or working towards), with proven leadership capability
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centred care, clinical governance, and quality improvement
- Experience delivering service improvement, practice development, and change initiatives
- Understanding of financial management, resource utilisation, and KPI performance
- Strong communication skills and capability in Microsoft applications and roster systems
- Understanding of Caring for the Coast and how your role contributes to CCLHD values and priorities
