About the Opportunity
This role provides specialised genetic counselling services to individuals and families seeking information about hereditary cancer risk. Services are delivered across Central Coast Local Health District through outpatient clinics and telehealth, supporting patients to understand their genetic risk and make informed healthcare decisions. In this role you will:
• Deliver comprehensive genetic counselling including family history assessment, genetic risk evaluation, and discussion of genetic testing options.
• Provide client-centred counselling and education to support individuals and families in understanding hereditary cancer risk.
• Triage referrals, coordinate outpatient clinics, and ensure efficient organisation of genetic counselling services.
• Review and follow up cases, providing ongoing support and referrals for medical management, emotional support, or other services.
• Contribute to education for health professionals and the community regarding genetics and hereditary cancer risk.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:
• Undergraduate degree in a non-nursing, non-medical discipline with postgraduate qualification in genetic counselling or Part I certification through the Human Genetics Society of Australasia.
• Extensive clinical experience in genetic counselling, including experience equivalent to a Level 2 Genetic Counsellor.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear information in both written and face to face settings.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to manage workload demands.
• Sound understanding of privacy, confidentiality, ethical practice, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
