Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus as well as at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and the Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics. RPA is one of Australia's leading hospitals, providing tertiary and quaternary health services and an extensive range of diagnostic and interventional Radiology services. RPA specialities include cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cancer, respiratory medicine, neurology, liver and kidney transplants. RPA Radiologists provide diagnostic and interventional services for these specialties, including advanced cancer imaging at the RPA Radiology service at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
The Department of Radiology
The Department of Radiology at RPA offers comprehensive diagnostic and interventional imaging services in a large tertiary referral hospital setting. Our Department is built around the delivery of the highest quality imaging care to our patients in a caring and professional environment. The Departments diagnostic imaging services provide critical clinical information directly impacting patient management in inpatient, emergency and outpatient settings through a wide array of modalities including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and Radiography.
The Role
This position is looking for a medical practitioner with experience in Interventional Radiology. The position will provide clinical care to patients accessing interventional Radiology (IR) Services offered by the RPA Radiology Department, primarily at Chris OBrien Lifehouse. The IR CMO will be performing procedures under the direction of Interventional Radiology Consultants. The position also serves as a point of contact for IR services for referring practitioners, including assessment of patients for their suitability for intervention, pre and post procedure review of patients. This is a senior medical officer role with responsibility extending to supervision of junior doctors and facilitating the teamwork between nurses, radiographers and other craft groups during clinical shifts.

Ideal Candidate
- Holds a current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with at least seven years of full-time clinical experience in a relevant area of practice.
- Has a high level of proficiency in IR procedures and familiarity with oncology Interventional Radiology service.
- Will operate in a diverse range of imaging settings and participate in the care of patients from multiple clinical disciplines and settings.
- Be a key member of the team guiding a patient through their imaging encounter particularly in the interventional settings.
