What you'll be doing

The role offers high-standard customer-focused maintenance and technical support for medical equipment within the Western Sydney Local Health District and external biomedical clients. The position involves servicing various medical and scientific instruments, including mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Daily Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical support and maintenance for medical equipment.
  • Servicing both medical and scientific instrumentation.
  • Working across mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Supporting clinical environments within WSLHD and external biomedical clients.
  • Ensuring high standards of customer-focused service delivery.

Essential Criteria 

  • Qualification: Fitter & Turner trade certificate and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification. 

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience within a healthcare setting.
  2. Trade course in Fitting and Machining or demonstrated knowledge of fitting and machinery.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic layouts as applied to medical and laboratory equipment.
  4. Demonstrated ability to fault find and repair mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment to component level.
  5. Ability to work as part of a team and be capable of working with minimal supervision.
  6. Advanced interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with an ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as nursing, medical and administrative staff and suppliers of services and components to the hospital.
  7. Ability to adhere to a quality system and perform administrative duties with thoroughness.
  8. Understanding of the importance of safe work practices, with an ability to ensure their own and co-workers safety by adopting safe working practices and compliance with WH&S policies and procedures.
