Achieve Something Great
This senior system-level role provides LHD‑wide strategic and operational leadership for clinical trials, with a unique opportunity to embed clinical trials as a core component of routine health care delivery and expand access to innovative therapies for the South Western Sydney community. The role holds accountability for district‑wide clinical trials governance, accreditation, and performance oversight, while driving capability building and the strategic growth of a high‑quality, sustainable clinical trials portfolio aligned with local and NSW Health priorities. Working across clinical streams, the role leads (strategically), coordinates (operationally), and strengthens clinical trials activity through performance improvement, partnership and portfolio development, and workforce capability uplift.

The position works in close collaboration with the District Director, Strategy, Planning & Research; Associate Director, Research; senior medical, nursing and allied health leaders; direct reports; the Ingham Institute; university partners; the Ministry of Health; and other Local Health Districts to deliver a cohesive, high‑performing clinical trials ecosystem across the LHD.

Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience within the health and research sector, with a proven track record of system‑level leadership and the ability to operate confidently in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment. They will demonstrate deep knowledge of clinical trials frameworks, including governance, quality, accreditation and regulatory compliance, complemented by strong people leadership and an ability to build high‑performing teams. Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills and a sound understanding of the public health system are essential, alongside strong strategic, analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.

Above all, the successful candidate will be outcomes‑focused, values‑driven, and motivated by the opportunity to deliver meaningful impact by advancing clinical trials that improve patient access to innovation and strengthen health system performance.
