Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

The Role:

The Spinal Injuries Unit within Prince of Wales Hospital is one of only two units in New South Wales that provides care for people with spinal cord injuries. The unit is comprised of a 10 bed Acute Spinal Unit and 20 bed Spinal Rehabilitation Ward.
 
As an Assistant in Nursing in SESLHD, you will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and support other nurses and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.
 
You will be part of a team that strives to support each other to reach our potential, focus on what matters most and continue to be innovative in approaches to practice.
 
As an Assistant in Nursing, you will retain responsibility for your own actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions.
 
You will be encouraged to further develop your practice with the professional development opportunities available.

  1. Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (HLT33115) or equivalent OR 2nd or 3rd Year Undergraduate Nursing Student.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
  3. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Effective time management skills.
  5. Computer skills including the ability to use a variety of office and health related software application
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control standard precautions.
