Located in the heart of the Upper Hunter, Scone Hospital is a charming rural facility offering the services and experience of a larger hospital, set within a welcoming country community.

• Mixed medical and surgical ward
• Operating theatre
• Maternity unit
• Emergency department
• Onsite medical imaging

About the Role

This is a dynamic rural Assistant in Nursing (AIN) position, offering broad clinical exposure across multiple departments. You’ll play a key role in supporting patient care while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a variety of settings.

In this role, you will:
• Report to the Nurse Unit Manager and After Hours Nurse in Charge
• Work primarily across the general ward, with opportunities to support other areas
• Assist in planning and delivering care for inpatients and post-operative patients
• Contribute to safe, high-quality care and daily ward operations
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Provide support across departments or nearby facilities as required

This position offers genuine opportunities for ongoing training and supported professional development within the facility and across the district.

Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Essential Requirements

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assistant in Nursing), or completion of at least one year of an undergraduate nursing degree
• Current work rights in Australia (Australian citizen, permanent resident, or valid working visa)

 

Additional Opportunities

Ongoing work will be available throughout the winter period, with opportunities to pick up shifts at other facilities across the district—providing even greater exposure and experience.
