In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high‑quality, safe and culturally responsive care within Fairfield Hospital. You will: 

  • Deliver evidence‑based, culturally appropriate, person‑centred care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve quality patient outcomes. 
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers and health care professionals to support safe, compassionate and high‑quality care. 
  • Practice in accordance with legislation, professional standards and NSW Health values, contributing to a safe, ethical and supportive clinical environment. 
 

Are You the Right Fit? 
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate: 

  • You understand your scope of practice and work under the direct supervision of a Registered Midwife, taking accountability for your clinical practice and professional development. 
  • You understand your scope of practice and work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Midwife, taking accountability for your clinical practice and professional development. 
  • You are able to work within South Western Sydney Local Health District policies and procedures and demonstrate professionalism aligned with the NSW Health Code of Conduct. 
 

Selection Criteria 
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below. 

  • Are you currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Midwifery Degree with 2 successfully completed semesters of study and completed at least 2 clinical placements? NB evidence of current enrolment, academic transcript and signed completed clinical placements must be attached in order for your application to be considered
  • Demonstrated ability to work under supervision and provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based care
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  • A thorough understanding of scope of practice and demonstrated ability to work within scope boundaries.
