What you'll be doing
The Assistant Engineer supports project planning, delivery, compliance and reporting for NSLHD. Working as part of an experienced multi-disciplined team, the incumbent will apply sound organisational expertise to assess building infrastructure and project specific requirements. The incumbent will liaise with departmental managers and staff to ensure projects can be undertaken without affecting the delivery of essential care and to minimise disruption to business. The Assistant Engineer will also oversee minor projects including Planning, scope development and delivery providing advice to staff in relation to the Engineering portfolio. In addition the Assistant Engineer will manage will aid in the day to day running of Engineering Department its staff, equipment and building projects within NSLHD facilities. The position will also be responsible for supervising building refurbishment works. In addition the Assistant engineer will liaise with consultants and Engineers. The Assistant Engineer will engage contractors and coordinate works to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and ensure works are completed to a high standard.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Relevant engineering or trade qualification that would meet the requirements for eligibility for membership to the Australian Institute of Hospital Engineers.
  2. How has your prior experience prepared you for the role of an Assistant Engineer in a Hospital?
  3. Describe an instance where you had to present a technical concept to a non-technical audience. How did you ensure they understood?
  4. Compliance is critical in a Hospital Environment. Can you detail your experience in Compliance relating to maintenance and essential services and all safety aspects?
  5. Can you explain your experience with project management and managing defect work?
