We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to become part of the RPAH Department of Anaesthetics Research team and contribute to important research within the perioperative setting.

  

The purpose of this position is to support clinical trials and research projects conducted by and within the Department of Anaesthetics at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. The Department of Anaesthetic Research Unit undertakes its own local research, acts as a project centre for multi-site studies and is involved in many multi-centre national and international trials. The Clinical Research Nurse will work with the Anaesthetic Research CNC and Principal/Associate Investigators to facilitate the conduct of high-level research. Close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, supporting departments and external institutions is integral to the role.

  

The Clinical Research Nurse will undertake daily research activities which involve interacting directly with patients and their families with the aim of screening, recruitment, consent, patient assessment, and data collection. In addition other research related tasks including staff education, assistance with ethics and governance documents and a solid knowledge and pursuit of Good Clinical Practice. A key component of some of the studies include blood collection and minor blood handling preparation activities (such as centrifuging, sample labelling and storage).

Ideal Candidate

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public health organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
