What you will bring to the role

  1. Qualifications: a) Senior Clinical Psychologist- Post graduate qualifications in Clinical Psychology and registration as a psychologist with AHPRA and Current Senior Clinical Psychologist or eligible for Senior Clinical Psychology grading (with no less than 12 months service at the 5th year of service and thereafter rate) or b) Social Worker - Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the AASW; or c) Occupational Therapist- Degree in Occupational Therapy with current Registration with AHPRA.
  2. Demonstrated extensive experience in child/adolescent mental health services, including significant work with adolescents experiencing acute and complex mental health issues. This includes expertise in contemporary evidence-based practices for youth mental health (e.g. familiarity with trauma-informed care, family therapy models, cognitive-behavioral interventions for mood/anxiety, early psychosis interventions, and management of eating disorders).
  3. Proven ability to lead and manage an Allied health team. This includes experience with line management or team leadership tasks such as staff supervision, performance development, mentoring of junior staff or students and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  4. Proven experience in clinical service planning; developing, coordinating and implementing innovative projects including quality improvement projects, and translating evidence into practice, preferably in an inpatient or community mental health settings.
  5. Advanced clinical skills in mental health assessment, formulation, and intervention, with the ability to manage complex cases and clinical risk in an inpatient context.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage effectively with young people, families, staff, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  7. Demonstrated high-level organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritise competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing service demands.
  8. A strong commitment to patient safety, clinical governance, and ethical practice including an understanding of the legal and policy framework which governs mental health and child protection within NSW.
