Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. The service provides 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care services.
We are seeking a motivated Allied Health Assistant to join our Dietetics team, with full-time hours available and job share considered for the right candidate. In this role, you will support the delivery of quality nutritional care under the guidance of a Clinical Dietitian. You will provide optimal nutritional care to patients in allocated wards and act as a liaison between the Dietetics Department, nursing staff, and food service personnel to ensure patients receive appropriate meals. This includes undertaking malnutrition screening and referring at-risk patients to the Clinical Dietitian for further assessment and intervention.
You will also be responsible for obtaining daily patient menu selections, accurately entering information into computer systems, completing malnutrition screening and documentation, and ensuring the accuracy of meals and mid-meals. What you will bring to the role
- Certificate III or IV in Health Service Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or Allied Health Assistance or relevant qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer; or willingness to complete the required skills and competencies for the role.
- Knowledge and understanding of NSW-wide therapeutic diets and experience using them in a hospital setting an advantage
- Proven ability to provide consistently good levels of customer service to hospital patients
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience within multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and independently, while managing a high-paced and high-volume workload
- High level computer skills in a wide variety of applications/programs, including experience with Diet Office/Food service IT systems
- Skills, knowledge and experience in food safety
- Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
