Maitland Hospital is a modern acute care facility providing a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services. Our services include Emergency, Intensive Care, Adult Inpatient, Perioperative, Oncology, Renal, Women’s and Children’s Health, Outpatient Clinics, Dental, Imaging, and Pathology.

Our After Hours Nurse Managers (AHNM) are integral members of the Senior Nursing & Midwifery Leadership Team. Working in partnership with the Director of Nursing & Midwifery, Operational Nurse Managers, Nursing Unit Managers, Midwifery Unit Managers, and Nurse Educators, the AHNM provides leadership and support across the hospital, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care at all times.


About the Role
The AHNM is responsible for the operational management and clinical leadership of the hospital during the after-hours period. This pivotal role involves:

  • Coordinating patient access and flow across the facility
  • Managing the nursing and midwifery workforce to meet service needs
  • Responding to incidents and leading disaster and emergency management as required
  • Monitoring and managing  KPIs to ensure service delivery targets are met
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless care delivery



About You
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic nurse leader who is committed to excellence in patient care and staff support. You will demonstrate:

  • Reliability, honesty, and professional integrity
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and follow through on actions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • Confidence in negotiation and conflict resolution
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced environment


Requirements

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in clinical leadership and management, and/or demonstrated leadership/management experience deemed appropriate for the role.
