Where you'll be working
Armidale Hospital is a key regional health service providing high-quality, patient-centred care to the community. As the After Hours Clinical Nurse Educator, you will work across the facility outside of standard business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
You will be supported by the Hospital Nurse Educator, After Hours Nurse Manager, and Director of Nursing, and will work collaboratively with Nurse Educators, Nurse Management, and Clinical Nurse Consultants. The role includes active involvement in Clinical Nurse Educator monthly meetings and ongoing professional development activities.

About the role

As the After Hours Clinical Nurse Educator, you will deliver and evaluate high-quality clinical education programs in collaboration with Nurse Management, Nurse Educators, and Clinical Nurse Consultants. Your work will directly support excellence in clinical practice, evidence-based care, and improved patient outcomes across Armidale Hospital during evenings, nights, and weekends.
You won’t be working alone. This role is strongly supported by the Hospital Nurse Educator, After Hours Nurse Manager, and Director of Nursing, ensuring you have guidance, collaboration, and professional backing. You’ll be actively involved in educator training, contribute to shared learning, and participate in monthly Clinical Nurse Educator meetings, keeping you connected, supported, and at the forefront of clinical education practice.

Who we're looking for? 
In this influential role, you will mentor and support nurses to confidently meet and maintain professional standards of practice within their scope of role and model of care. Working collaboratively with the management team, fellow educators, and Clinical Nurse Consultants, you will plan, deliver, and evaluate meaningful clinical education that supports staff and students at every stage of their professional journey.
You will take the lead in the coordination and planning of clinical education, providing tailored, individualised teaching to meet the needs of both individuals and teams. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you will actively contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives, helping to shape safer, more effective clinical practice.
Above all, you will model behaviours aligned with the Excellence Framework, inspiring professionalism, accountability, and a culture of learning across the service.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration and who holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate.
  • Current Workplace Training and Assessment Cert IV or willing to work towards
  • Credentialed as a DETECT and DETECT junior trainer or willingness to obtain.
  • Credentialed in Triage and ALS or willingness to obtain.
