About The Opportunity

Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Advanced Trainee to complement and enhance the current Respiratory and Sleep Medicine department. 

Liverpool Hospital has a small respiratory clinical trials unit with a research nurse. Trainees are encouraged to contribute as investigatiors for clinical trials according to their interests.

Research projects can be investigator initiated, negotiated with a supervisor, or trainees can join an established research program in sleep, TB, or PE. Quality audits are also enocouraged. Previous trainess have sucessfully published and presented on topics such as influenza, sleep, bronchoscopy, pleural interventions and tuberculosis.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

What you'll be doing
 

  • The position is centered around vocational training in sleep medicine.
  • The position is an accredited Trainee in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine (RACP) working at the level of an Advanced Trainee
  • The trainee is expected to provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex multi-disciplinary clinical environment.
  • The trainee needs to have demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team – diligence, punctuality, organisation, record keeping, time management, problem solving skills, team work.
  • The trainee is expected to possess excellent communication (verbal and written) with patients, their families, medical and non-medical colleagues
  • The trainee needs to have demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and expert clinical care, and commitment to ongoing advanced training education, research and teaching; and commitment to continuous quality improvement
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Completed FRACP Examinations (written and clinical)
  3. Completed at least two years of repiratory advanced training
  4. Excellent theoretical knowledge and clinical judgement
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team - diligence, punctuality, organization, record keeping, time management, problem solving skills, team work
  6. Excellent communication (verbal and written) with patients, their families, medical and non-medical colleagues; Demonstrates ability to provide empathetic and expert clinical care
  7. Demonstrated Commitment to ongoing Advanced Training education, research and teaching
  8. Commitment to continuous quality improvement
