What you'll be doing
The Advanced Clinical Coder plays a key role in ensuring accurate coding and data quality in a tertiary healthcare setting, using extensive experience and expertise. Your responsibilities in this role also include:
- Performing coding, grouping, and data quality tasks
- Applying advanced skills across diverse medical specialties
- Contributing to WSLHD's Coding Quality Plan
- Mentoring less experienced coders when needed
- Supporting organisational goals through high-precision work

- Extensive clinical coding experience (in the current ICD-10-AM version) across a broad range of specialties in a tertiary setting, evidenced to meet the District’s set KPIs of accuracy & throughput.
- Demonstrated understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and Activity Based Funding (ABF).
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills with high level attention to detail.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time and resources to meet pre-determined targets and deadlines.
- Ability to analyse, abstract, interpret and report information in clinical coding forums.
- Enthusiastic attitude and demonstrated ability to work both independently, within a team and be flexible in a changing work environment.
- Demonstrated experience using computer applications.
