About the Role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ambulatory Care Business Unit as part of the administrative team within the Cancer Genetics Clinic at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. We are seeking motivated and professional administrative staff with a health or healthcare background who are committed to delivering exceptional customer service and contributing proactively within a collaborative clinical environment.
The Cancer Genetics Clinic provides integrated, patient-centred care in a supportive and compassionate setting. In this role, you will draw on prior experience in healthcare administration or clinical support to coordinate patient bookings, liaise with doctors, nurses, and patients regarding urgent and non-urgent appointments, process Medicare billing, manage patient records and files, and support the day-to-day administrative functions of the clinic. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and customer service abilities, ideally developed within a healthcare setting.
While the position is based within the Cancer Genetics Clinic – Cancer Services Department, it sits within the Ambulatory Care Business Unit (ACBU), which oversees the centralised workforce structure for all Ambulatory Care administrative staff across Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in an administrative setting with established high level computer literacy and typing skills, including experience with dictaphone transcribing equipment or software, with a minimum typing speed of 60wpm.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external customers both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated experience with computers and computer software packages i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
