About the Role
  
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

The Clinical Support Officer (CSO) is a ward/unit-based role that supports nurses, midwives, medical, and allied health staff, with shifts based on local service needs. The CSO may work across multiple wards or units and will collaborate with existing administrative staff such as ward clerks and communication officers.

The role provides timely, accurate administrative support under the direction of the NUM, complementing existing systems and processes. While working under broad supervision, the CSO may take independent action within established procedures. Ultimate responsibility for ward/unit management remains with the NUM.

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds or is willing to undertake a Certificate III in Health Administration or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills including accurate spelling, good comprehension, confidence in the spoken word and ability to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
