As the Aboriginal Workforce and Cultural Capability Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping a culturally safe, responsive and inclusive workforce across Sydney Children's Hospitals Network. Working alongside senior executives, managers and community stakeholders, you will lead strategic initiatives that strengthen Aboriginal workforce participation, drive cultural capability, and embed meaningful change across the organisation.

What you'll be doing
The Manager provides leadership and oversight of high-impact programs, including the delivery of Respecting the Difference training, ensuring cultural capability and safety are embedded in everyday practice for staff across the network. The role leads the development and implementation of workforce attraction, recruitment, retention, and development strategies for Aboriginal staff, and for ensuring culturally informed education programs are aligned with organisational priorities and performance outcomes.
Working in close partnership with executives, managers, and key stakeholders, the position strengthens governance frameworks, supports the implementation of SCHN’s Aboriginal cultural safety framework, and drives accountability, continuous improvement, and policy alignment across the organisation. The role also provides expert strategic advice, tailored education, and guidance to enhance cultural capability and responsiveness.
This position requires lived experience and a deep understanding of the historical and ongoing impacts affecting Aboriginal peoples’ access to health services together with a demonstrated commitment to improving health, education and workforce outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

Responses to the questions below:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience, with demonstrated high-level skills in leadership, stakeholder engagement, with proven ability to apply Aboriginal knowledge and experience in both strategic and operational contexts to improve health system and outcomes.
- People management experience, including leading, mentoring, and development and ability to lead teams through change, providing clear direction, feedback, and support to achieve outcomes.
- Proven ability to interpret data, write reports, and translate insights into practical plans that can be presented and applied to improve outcomes in a health setting, particularly in cultural capability and Aboriginal workforce development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence change through advocacy and strategic dialogue that centres Aboriginal voices and fosters inclusive, culturally safe environments.
- Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining culturally safe, inclusive workplaces, including supporting the attraction, development, and retention of Aboriginal staff and fostering a positive organisational culture.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in education design and delivery, including application of adult learning principles to develop, implement and evaluate culturally responsive education initiatives across a diverse workforce.
- Current unrestricted NSW drivers’ licence, ability and willingness to drive / travel to all sites and services within the catchment area of the Health Agency to support the Team in their capacity to provide equitable access to training opportunities for all staff.
