What you will bring to the role 

  1. Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent – Aboriginality/Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  2. Commitment to a three-year traineeship which includes successfully completing workload clinical requirements, a university degree through distance education, attendance at residential schools at Wagga Wagga and university clinical placements across NBMLHD
  3. Ability to positively contribute to Closing the Gap strategies for Aboriginal people by building networks with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders which will increase Aboriginal participation in decision making processes.
  4. Understand the mental health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal communities
  5. Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary mental health team and work under the direction of a supervisor.
  6. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication.
  7. Competent in using computers to produce documents, email and enter data.
  8. Current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence (P2 acceptable).

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
