An exciting opportunity exists to join SESLHDs Mental Health workforce, working with Aboriginal consumers. The role is strongly connected with the local Aboriginal community. Where you'll be working

SESLHD Mental Health Service, located at Kirk Place, Kogarah. Travel to other Mental Health Service sites and across the SESLHD will be required.


This is an Aboriginal Identified role - we need someone to bring their cultural capability and lived experience as an Aboriginal person to this role. As part of the recruitment process, we will ask you to provide documentation to confirm your Aboriginality and your capability will also be assessed through the recruitment process.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. To be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1991.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health or management related field or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience as deemed appropriate by Manager of the position.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of complex issues that impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team in performing a range of skills within allocated timeframes.
  5. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with key stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence to improve health outcomes.
  7. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt work practices to meet current and emerging consumer and community needs.
  8. Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
