About the role
As the MERIT Aboriginal Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal people who are engaging with the justice system and seeking help for alcohol and other drug concerns.
You will be the cultural heart of the MERIT team, helping clients feel safe, respected, and understood as they begin their treatment journey.
Working alongside a Senior Clinician, Case Workers and local community services, you will provide culturally informed support, help clients navigate the MERIT process, and strengthen connections with family, community, and Aboriginal Medical Services.
This role is an opportunity to make a real difference—supporting people to make positive changes, advocating for their cultural needs, and ensuring they receive the right care at the right time.

Location at Bourke MPS and servicing Brewarrina and Walgett
Orientation includes supervised by Senior clinician and 30, 60 and 90 day conversation within the first 3 months of employment
