Position Classification: Health Manager Level 1
Remuneration: $44.28 - $58.91 per hour
Hours Per Week: 38
Location: Predominantly Westmead Hospital however services located across WSLHD sites.

What you'll be doing
As the Aboriginal Engagement Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in connecting Aboriginal communities with WSLHD’s major capital works projects. Your work will ensure cultural perspectives are embedded in planning and delivery, fostering trust and collaboration.

  • Develop and implement Aboriginal Engagement Strategies for key projects

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders

  • Collect and analyse feedback to improve engagement outcomes

  • Prepare reports and communicate progress to stakeholders

  • Support project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets

Essential Criteria:

  • Evidence of Diversity claim if applicable (state which category): Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal community engagement principles, cultural safety, and the importance of Aboriginal self-determination in health and infrastructure settings.

  2. Relevant tertiary qualification in health-related field and/or demonstrated work and/or lived experience.

  3. Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail.

  4. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external key stakeholders, project groups and senior level management.

  5. Demonstrated project management, research and/or evaluation skills.

  6. Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs and Internet Explorer.

  7. Valid NSW Drivers License and be willing to use it for work purposes.
