About the Opportunity

The Solution Architect is responsible for the development and oversight of the technology solutions and mapping the business requirement to system/technical requirements to ensure they are in line with enterprise architectural plan.

This role presents a unique opportunity to lead the discovery, design, and implementation of a comprehensive Microsoft 365 governance framework across NSW Health. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping how Microsoft 365 is governed, adopted, and integrated across one of the largest and most complex health organisations in Australia.

Working closely with the Program Architect, Program leadership, engineering teams, LHDs and Vendors, this role will own the end‑to‑end architecture for M365 using AvePoint Governance Hub, from planning and design through to technical implementation and organisational adoption.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop the plan for the discovery, design, implementation and integration of a comprehensive governance framework for Microsoft 365 as required by NSW Health.
  • Extend existing governance frameworks to achieve synergy between the existing and new areas of coverage.
  • Lead the complete technical implementation of this governance framework extension.
  • Take full ownership of any and all project items associated with the governance framework extension.
  • Lead workshops communicating with each division of NSW Health on the initiatives of the framework extension project.
  • Coordinate the implementation of this governance framework for Microsoft 365 across all divisions inside NSW Health, accounting and accommodating for variances required by each division.
  • Ensure alignment of the framework with the core objectives and principals of NSW Health and any other initiatives currently being undertaken by NSW Health.
  • Document the decision-making process of all elements of the implemented solution in a manner consistent with NSW Health standards.
  • Establish and uplift governance models, change control, deviation or exception management lifecycle policy and documentation standards.
  • Engage LHDs, Vendors and multidisciplinary teams through workshops, design reviews and stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify and manage architectural risks, ensuring traceability of decisions and alignment of delivery activities with the intended target state.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in implementing M365 Governance frameworks (particularly in a Health department context).
  • Expertise in AvePoint software (AvePoint Cloud Governance, Enpower) for Microsoft 365 environments (such as SharePoint and Teams).
  • Proven experience in leading and driving complex technical pieces and projects to completion.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders, adapting messages for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to represent NSW Health in negotiations with software vendors to secure favourable software outcomes and new feature enhancements.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence, simplify complexity and drive alignment across diverse technical and non-technical groups.
