Senior Network Engineer (Health Manager Level 4)

As a key part of NSW Health’s digital ecosystem, this team plays a vital role in advancing secure, scalable, and high-performing digital platforms that support critical healthcare services. By driving product innovation, refining service delivery, and proactively resolving complex technical issues, the team helps ensure that digital solutions remain reliable and responsive to the needs of clinicians, patients, and health staff.
Through collaboration, continuous improvement, and mentoring, the team empowers the wider health system with the tools and technology needed to improve patient care and enrich health in millions of ways every day through digital innovation.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a technical SME for product development, sprint delivery, and incremental releases
- Manage and improve DC Platform and Security products, including F5 Load balancer, Palo Alto/Fortinet firewalls and NTP Stratum 1 and 2.
- Proactively resolve complex issues to maintain system performance and reliability
- Evaluate emerging technologies and advise on ICT service improvements
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine services and support new cross-functional solutions
Mentor team members to enhance knowledge and support across eHealth teams
This role is internally referred to as Senior Systems Engineer.
About You
We are looking for someone with:- Hands-on experience with advanced datacentre load balancer and routing technologies like load balancing F5-LTM/GTM, network routing technologies including Cisco, Arista layer 2 switching and layer 3 OSPF/BGP routing technologies
- Skilled in security solutions including Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls, WAF, Security Policy Management AlgoSec and authentication services (ISE, Clearpass), Zscaler Secure Service Edge
- Strong background in network infrastructure management with expertise in DNS, NTP Stratum 1 & 2, remote access, and firewall management tools like Panorama and FortiManager
- Proficient in automation, orchestration, and analysis using Gigamon, network tools, and orchestration platforms to optimize performance and security
- Experience working with virtualization and cloud services such as Azure and AWS to support scalable, resilient digital health environments
- Adept at applying your knowledge in complex environments to troubleshoot, secure, and improve critical healthcare network and security systems
