Aboriginal Health Worker - Mental Health Liaison - Bega
Selection Criteria
- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage (NB applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
- Hold a minimum of Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care practice (or equivalent in a relevant field) or willingness to obtain with 18 months of employment. Additional training will be supported by the district.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community, including an awareness of the issues that impact on the social and emotional, and physical health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality, safe and connected care to consumers and their families and carers in a person-centred and holistic manner that promotes self-determination and in context of the principles of mental health rehabilitation, recovery framework and a strengths based approach.
- Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
