Based at Westmead Hospital, you will join a nationally recognised tertiary referral centre delivering cutting-edge CAR T Cell Therapy within Haematology services. What you'll be doing
As a Level 3 Senior Clinician, you will provide expert psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention and counselling to patients undergoing CAR T Cell Therapy and their families.
You will:
Deliver comprehensive social work services across inpatient and outpatient settings
Manage high-acuity and complex presentations including grief, trauma, guardianship, child protection and end-of-life care
Exercise independent clinical judgement in assessment, intervention and consultancy
Contribute to program development, quality improvement and clinical research initiatives
Provide supervision, education and specialist consultation to staff and students
You will thrive in a fast-paced oncology environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining compassionate, patient-centred care.
About You
You are an experienced, resilient and highly skilled Social Worker with strong oncology or acute hospital experience.
You will demonstrate:
Bachelor of Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW
Advanced clinical skills in crisis intervention, counselling and complex case management
Experience working with serious illness, disability, grief and bereavement
Strong multidisciplinary collaboration and communication capability
Ability to work autonomously with high-level reasoning and problem-solving skills
Commitment to supervision, professional growth and quality improvement
Willingness to participate in the After Hours Crisis On-Call Service
Class C Driver’s Licence

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Bachelor of Social Work
Registration: Eligibility of Australian Association of Social Work
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills in social work assessment, crisis intervention and counselling with patient and their families in both an inpatient and outpatient settings, with relevant demonstrated skills relevant to coping with illness, disability and bereavement.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
Sound knowledge of developmental frameworks and the impact of chronic illness, disability, treatment, bereavement and hospitalisation on patients and family.
Well-developed time management skills, ability to work with minimum supervision, excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing skills and high level computer literacy.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build therapeutic relationships with patients and families and stakeholders within the health environment.
Commitment to professional supervision, building professional skills and capacity, and willingness to seek appropriate guidance and direction.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
Participate in the After Hours Crisis On-Call Social Work Service and Class C Driver’s License.
