About the Opportunity
We are currently looking for the next leader of the Macarthur Community Mental Health Emergency Team. Are you ready to take the next step in your career?

Macarthur CoMHET work under an Acute Care Service Model providing:

  1. Mental Health Assessments to people experiencing acute Mental Health problems (including Rapid Response if required) and determining an appropriate pathway for care 
  2. Short term intensive treatment in the community often as an alternative to hospital 
  3. Gatekeeping and developing opportunities for assessment and community treatment at key points. 

This model provides short term treatment after assessment up until acute symptoms have resolved or the consumer is effectively engaged and transferred to an appropriate treatment provider. Mental Health assessments are done face to face, via telehealth or over the telephone both in the Mental Health Centre and via Home Visits.

The team works a 7 day Rotating roster Morning (08:30 to 17:00) and Evenings (14:00 to 22:30) and is supported by the Macarthur Service Manager and Senior Mental Health Professional position.

What You'll be Doing
The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit. The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.

How to Apply

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
  2. Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
  3. Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the management of the unit and the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  8. Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
