About The Opportunity
Are you ready to take the next step in your social work career and make a real impact in mental health care? We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Senior Social Worker (Level 3) to join our close-knit team at Mental Health Inpatient Services.
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative social work team that covers a range of mental health units, including the recently refurbished High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC). Our team brings together a rich mix of experience—from early career professionals to those with 20–30 years of expertise—offering a supportive environment where learning and growth are encouraged.
This role is perfect for someone who’s keen to step into a senior position, even without extensive mental health experience. You’ll be well-supported by another senior social worker and a dedicated team leader, and have the chance to lead brief interventions, contribute to quality improvement projects, and explore areas of interest that help shape and enhance our service.

What You'll Be Doing
This position is responsible for providing specialist Social Work service to consumers and their carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. The position will also participate in professional development, clinical supervision, teaching, quality activities and other relevant departmental and administrative duties.
Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide comprehensive care across several facilities, including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. These services offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs.
The multidisciplinary teams, consisting of professionals with diverse mental health expertise, deliver exceptional care through specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People's Mental Health Unit. The service is committed to patient safety and high-quality care, maintaining external accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.
With active teaching and research links to various universities, SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide excellent opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

- A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Can you describe your postgraduate experience as a Social Worker in clinical health settings, including how you’ve applied advanced reasoning and independent judgment in managing complex health conditions and critical situations? Please include examples of how you’ve handled high-pressure workloads and collaborated within multidisciplinary teams.
How have you contributed to the development of social work practice through clinical supervision, expert consultation, and leading quality improvement initiatives? We’re particularly interested in examples where you’ve applied evidence-based approaches and demonstrated strong communication and digital skills.
