Achieve Something Great
Bowral Hospital Emergency Department is an inspiring place to build and advance your emergency nursing career. Located in the beautiful Southern Highlands, the department offers the opportunity to deliver high‑quality emergency care within a supportive and professional environment that values staff wellbeing, balance, and sustainable practice.
Team culture sits at the heart of what we do. You will be welcomed into a close‑knit, collaborative group where colleagues support one another, ideas are encouraged, and learning is embedded into everyday practice. Strong teamwork underpins safe, patient‑centred care and creates a positive workplace for nurses at all stages of their career.
We provide a supportive environment for both early‑career and experienced emergency nurses. Early‑career nurses are supported through hands‑on learning, guidance from approachable senior staff, and opportunities to build confidence and core emergency skills. Experienced nurses are valued for their clinical expertise and leadership, contributing through mentoring, service improvement, and clinical excellence.
Clear opportunities exist to grow within emergency nursing, whether through expanding clinical skills, stepping into leadership roles, or shaping your longer‑term career pathway. Most importantly, we foster a workplace where fulfilling emergency work can be balanced with life beyond the department.
If you are passionate about emergency care and want your skills, ideas, and contribution to truly matter, we would love to welcome you to Bowral Hospital Emergency Department.
Are You the Right Fit?
You bring strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and decision‑making skills, with the ability to perform confidently in a fast‑paced and unpredictable emergency environment. Critical care experience is preferred, along with the ability to remain calm, composed, and professional when managing acutely unwell or distressed patients while delivering safe and timely care.
You communicate with clarity, compassion, and respect, building trust with patients and families and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration and shared decision‑making. You demonstrate adaptability and resilience, strong time‑management and prioritisation skills, and a clear commitment to patient‑centred, safe, and high‑quality care aligned with best practice.
You show professional accountability, reliability, and a strong work ethic, engaging in reflective practice and continuous professional development. You accept feedback constructively, contribute positively to a learning‑focused workplace culture, uphold ethical practice and confidentiality, and demonstrate cultural awareness. You also show leadership appropriate to your role and experience, including supporting and mentoring colleagues when required.
