Achieve Something Great
Stepping into this midwifery role at Bankstown‑Lidcombe Hospital means embracing a career where your skills, compassion and professionalism directly shape the experiences of women, newborns and families. With rotations across the Birthing Unit, Postnatal and Antenatal Wards, Special Care Nursery and Antenatal Clinic, the position offers the chance to grow into a confident, well‑rounded clinician who provides safe, respectful and woman‑centred care. As a midwife, you hold responsibility for guiding women through pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, supporting them with expertise and empathy while caring for their infants with the same dedication. Within South Western Sydney Local Health District’s commitment to leading care and building healthier communities, you’re encouraged to embody the CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment, contributing to a culture that uplifts both patients and colleagues. Grounded in the vision of “Compassionate Nursing and Midwifery Care Always,” this role invites you to make a meaningful impact every day.
Are You the Right Fit?
A candidate who thrives in this role is someone who brings both professional capability and genuine commitment to woman‑centred care. This means being a responsible and accountable midwife who works in true partnership with women and their families, offering confident, evidence‑based support throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. It involves being skilled enough to conduct births independently while ensuring safety, respect and dignity at every stage, and being equally competent in caring for newborns with a strong understanding of early postnatal needs. The right person is adaptable, comfortable rotating through diverse clinical areas—from the Birthing Unit to the Special Care Nursery—and able to collaborate seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams. Above all, they demonstrate compassion, advocate for women’s choices and wellbeing, and remain dedicated to high clinical standards, ongoing learning and continual professional growth.
