- This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identify as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
- Post graduate qualifications in health or social science areas or relevant work experience and a current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
- Demonstrated understanding of how the issues of trauma, sexual assault, domestic & family violence, violence and neglect impact on Aboriginal communities and the historical and contemporary factors that have shaped them.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience delivering services to children, young people and adults in Aboriginal communities that address the issues of trauma, sexual assault, domestic & family violence and violence and neglect.
- Previous experience leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams that deliver health services to Aboriginal communities.
- Demonstrated experience in adapting therapeutic approaches or service models to meet the specific cultural needs of Aboriginal people.
- Ability to affect change within mainstream health services to build cultural competence and maintain systems that support culturally responsive service provision.
- Demonstrated advanced communication skills (verbal and written), including excellent negotiation, complex decision making and advocacy skills. This includes a demonstrated ability to engage with Aboriginal communities and Community Controlled Organisations and other stakeholders to improve coordination and address service gaps.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, leading and evaluation of quality improvement activities involving the application of evidence based practice.
- Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
