What You'll Be Doing
The PCLI is a coordinated state-wide approach to supporting people with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and complex needs who have been in hospital for more than twelve months and or are likely to experience difficulty with discharge solutions, to re-establish their lives in the community. 
  
The Senior Clinician will work with existing inpatient and community teams to support the assessment and progression of safe transitions  consumers into the community or an appropriate inpatient setting based on the consumer's strengths, needs and wishes. 
The Senior Clinician will liaise and work closely with the PCLI team, mental health services consumers, carers , family and external services ensuring timely, appropriate and high quality care is provided to PCLI Consumers

This position will provide leadership, mentorship and supervision, to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment . The position   will carry a clinical caseload, appropriate to the needs of the service and PCLI program.

 

Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide comprehensive care across several facilities, including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. These services offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs.

The multidisciplinary teams, consisting of professionals with diverse mental health expertise, deliver exceptional care through specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People's Mental Health Unit. The service is committed to patient safety and high-quality care, maintaining external accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.

  1. Relevant qualifications as an Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). 

     

  2. Demonstrated extensive experience in mental health rehabilitation providing advanced evidence based, strengths focused, recovery orientated
    assessment and treatment for consumers with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and complex needs.
  3. Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills (including excellent negotiation and advocacy), problem solving skills and personal resilience and highlight how these skills have been vital and used when working with numerous internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated experience in leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery through quality improvement projects or research. Facilitation of projects that has demonstrated improvements in MH outcomes and showed sustained and improved change of practice and service delivery.
  5. Ability to work independently and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
