The Health Promotion Team at SWSLHD is seeking enthusiastic and passionate Health Promotion Officers to plan and implement healthy lifestyle initiatives for children and their families in South Western Sydney, including the delivery of Healthy Children Initiative (HCI) programs.

What You'll be Doing
The Health Promotion Officer (HPO) will plan, implement and evaluate programs promoting healthy eating and active living and reducing screen time for children 0-5 years and their families. They will also be responsible for implementing Healthy Children Initiative programs such as Munch and Move, in early childhood and educational services (including family day care services) with local level tailoring and adaptation as needed.
The purpose of this position is to improve the health of people living in south western Sydney by contributing to Health Promotion programs of work in line with South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Ministry of Health’s goals, principles, and strategies.
The Health Promotion Officer will primarily work in the Early Years & Ageing stream and contribute to evidence based and/or innovative programs of work for population health priorities. The Health Promotion Officer may also work on projects from the Health & Wellbeing stream as required.
The HPO will primarily be responsible for working with the team to:
- deliver all stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and sustainability of programs promoting healthy eating and active living of children from birth to 5 years and their families/carers.
- implement the early years Healthy Children Initiative programs e.g. Munch and Move across SWSLHD to meet Ministry of Health performance indicators with local level tailoring and adaptation as needed.

- Tertiary qualifications in health or related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion theory and experience in project planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination
Knowledge and experience in working with one of the Healthy Children Initiative in early years settings: preschools, long day care, family day care.
Understanding of issues that may impact service delivery in relation to social, disadvantage, CALD and Aboriginal communities.
Effective organisational and communication skills and the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
