Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Visiting Medical Officer in Intensive Care to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital!

   

We are looking for a Visiting Medical Officer in Intensive Care. The primary purpose of the role of Visiting Medical Officer in Intensive Care is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Intensive Care and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Intensive Care Unit and Hospital as required. 
     
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Intensive Care Services (RPAHICS) provides high level critical care to more than 3000 patients a year. RPAHICS provides tertiary and quaternary level Critical Care support to the Hospital, Sydney Local Health District and NSW across a number of specialty areas, in particular, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Liver Transplantation, Trauma, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Complex Abdominopelvic Surgery, and the vICU program. 
    
The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
   
Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) with recognised qualifications in Intensive Care Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
   
Position will be available from February 2026. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from the beginning of the 2026 Clinical Year on 2 February 2026, may be considered.
   
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
