Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our Mental Health Service Team!
We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Psychiatry. The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Mental Health Service and Hospital as required.
The Staff Specialist will provide clinical assessment, management and treatment of outpatients and inpatients at the Rivendell Unit and will also provide leave relief within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). They will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
Child protection is the core responsibility of all who work in the child and adolescent mental health service. All staff are required to have detailed knowledge of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. All clinicians are responsible for ensuring that identified issues are documented, escalated and action occurs as appropriate.
Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and/or other equivalent specialist recognition, and completion of the Certificate in Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) or equivalent as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Position/s are currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from the beginning of the 2026 Clinical Year on 2 February 2026, may be considered.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
