Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Visiting Medical Officer in Psychiatry to join Community Mental Health Services!
 
 

We are looking for a Visiting Medical Officer in Community Mental Health Services. The primary purpose of the role of Visiting Medical Officer in Psychiatry is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in psychiatry and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Mental Health Service and Hospital as required. 
    
The Visiting Medical Officer will provide direct care and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary mental health team. This role is predominantly based in Community Mental Health, noting that there may also be additional clinical work across Adult Mental Health Services in SLHD.
   
The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development. 
 

Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Position/s are currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from the beginning of the 2026 Clinical Year on 2 February 2026, may be considered.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
