About the Role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
The Ambulatory Care Business Unit (ACBU) provides a centralised administrative workforce structure across a variety of Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital outpatient clinics. The purpose of the ACBU is to ensure centralised processes amongst our outpatient services and to support our staff in providing the best care for our patients.
Administrative Officers are often the first point of contact for patients, families and their carers in an outpatient setting. Administrative Officer roles within ACBU are responsible for delivering a high standard of customer service, administrative support and actively contributing to a positive experience for our patients and visitors.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated administrative professional to join the Dermatology Department at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital. This busy clinic supports a range of general and subspecialty dermatology services focused on patient-centred care, innovation, and collaboration.
In this role, you will provide essential administrative support, manage patient interactions, and help ensure smooth daily operations. Key duties include coordinating appointments, referrals management, and liaising with medical staff to support high-quality care. Strong administrative and customer service skills are essential, with a healthcare background highly desirable. Effective and compassionate communication will help foster a welcoming environment for patients and staff.
Although this role is based in the Dermatology Ambulatory Service, it sits within the Ambulatory Care Business Unit (ACBU), which oversees the centralised administrative workforce across all Ambulatory Care services at RPA.

Ideal Candidate
- Previous customer service experience with the ability to demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Previous experience in an administrative setting and demonstrated ability to perform clerical duties.
- Practical experience with or understanding of Medicare billing in a public hospital.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and ability to liaise with a wide variety of staff and consumers.
