The Northcott Neuroscience Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated scientist to work on projects investigating the genetic causes of nerve death in human motor and sensory nerve disorders.
The primary focus is to use next generation sequencing and genomic resources, molecular and cellular biology techniques and patient derived pre-clinical models to identify targets and molecular mechanisms causing peripheral nerve degeneration.

Ideal Candidate
- A PhD or equivalent experience in human neurogenetics and neurosciences.
- Demonstrated experience in gene mapping and discovery using transcriptome-guided approaches, linkage analysis, rare variant burden analysis, and integration of transcriptomic and genomic datasets to identify pathogenic variants.
- Proven skills in RNA isolation, poly(A) enrichment or rRNA depletion, library preparation for RNA-seq, qPCR/RT-qPCR, cloning, and performing cell-based functional assays including viability and proliferation assays.
- Hands-on experience with human or animal tissue culture and gene delivery methods, including transfection or transduction using viral vectors (e.g., lentivirus, AAV).
