About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
The Hospital Scientist participates in development, manufacturing and testing of novel human cellular therapeutics including gene modified cells according to the cGMP. The Hospital Scientist is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ISO14644 and PC2 certified clean room laboratories and equipment of the Department of Cell and Molecular Therapies (CMT) at RPAH.

Ideal Candidate
- An appropriate science degree from an approved University in a relevant discipline such as cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, microbiology or biochemistry.
- Experience in a medical scientific laboratory environment including culture and testing of primary human cells with a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new techniques.
- Experience in processing and cryopreservation of cellular products with an understanding and knowledge of regulatory requirements for cell and gene therapy products.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with demonstrated ability to present ideas and information and data effectively via one on one discussions, team meetings and partnership interactions.
- Ability to work as part of a team performing assigned tasks under limited supervision with adherence to documented procedures to maintain an effective cGMP compliant laboratory service.
