Secretary for Epilepsy Service POWH
What you'll be doing
The position is required to provide a range of general administrative functions to the NSW Complex Epilepsy Service, Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick and to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the clinics it supports. The NSW Complex Epilepsy Service functions as part of the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Prince of Wales Hospital and also provides clinics with the Sydney Children's Hospital for the transition of epilepsy patients to adult services. The Unit provides services to patients referred from specialists and general practitioners across NSW for specialist epilepsy opinion for diagnosis, treatment and/or surgical planning utilising both ambulatory outpatient and inpatient video-EEG monitoring. The NSW Complex Epilepsy Service is actively involved in both training and research.

The Epilepsy Service is part of a state-wide network of specialised units diagnosing and caring for people with epilepsy. We are a close-knit team of professionals and pride ourselves on providing the highest quality care to our patients. The work is busy but satisfying.
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated time management skills, high level organisational skills, the ability to prioritise work and especially, the ability to be multi-tasked and manage competing demands.
- Demonstrated high level secretarial and administrative skills, including knowledge and practical skills with office productivity software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Accurate word processing skills (45wpm).
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision and in a multidisciplinary team. Self motivated with the ability to exercise initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, interpersonal, verbal and written with excellent telephone communication and public relations skills.
