Selection Criteria
- Successful completion of a recognised clinical coding course applicable to the Australian inpatient setting.
- Demonstrated workplace experience and competence in inpatient coding using a recent edition of ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS.
- Demonstrated thorough understanding of the Australian Coding Standards, DRG assignment and the relationship between clinical coding and activity based funding.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workload, including ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including spelling accuracy, good comprehension of the written word and confidence in the spoken word.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team situation.
- Demonstrated computer literacy particularly in the use of 3M Codefinder, Patient Administration Systems and electronic medical record systems.
