Where you'll be working 
As part of the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Casual Midwifery Pool, you’ll have the opportunity to work across our leading maternity services, supporting women and families through every stage of pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care. Every shift offers the chance to make a real difference while building your skills in diverse clinical settings.

 

You’ll have the opportunity to work across:

  • Auburn Hospital – providing maternity care to a diverse community
  • Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals – rapidly growing facilities with modern birthing suites and a strong focus on family-centred care

 

 

What you'll be doing 
As a Registered Midwife in our casual pool, you’ll provide safe, high-quality, evidence-informed care, supporting women, newborns, and their families through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal journey. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you’ll deliver professional, compassionate care that promotes positive health outcomes and family wellbeing.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating midwifery care in partnership with women and families
  • Supporting women through antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care with a focus on individual needs and preferences
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community services to ensure seamless, family-centred care
  • Supervising and supporting students and less experienced staff in the clinical environment
  • Promoting evidence-based midwifery practice and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives

 

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • Registration: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (NSW Registered Midwife). 

     

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with the Registered Midwife National Competency Standards, Code of Ethics for Midwives, and Code of Professional Conduct for Midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
  2. Recent midwifery experience including, antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care and lactation support.
  3. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means; and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  4. An understanding of woman centred care and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality midwifery care.
  6. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability.
