Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title (levels A to D) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience.  The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.  The academic title will be held for the duration of The Children's Hospital at Westmead appointment.  No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.  The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for clinical matters.

1. Demonstrated contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise within the specialty of Genetic Pathology including a scope of practice in medical genomics.
2. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Genetic Pathology, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
3. Demonstrated willingness or experience in working across multiple laboratory sites.
4. Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training for staff on-site plus those requiring training in State-wide services.
5. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication and interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
6. Demonstrated personal qualities including effective communication skills, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
7. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management and continuous improvement and a contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
8. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
