What you'll be doing
The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) is seeking a senior professional to lead and direct the operations of the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and its subcommittees.
The SCHN HREC is responsible for ensuring ethical and scientific acceptability of human research conducted at sites within the SCHN and for paediatric specific research referred by any Public Health Organisation from NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, SA and WA as part of the National Mutual Acceptance of scientific and ethical review of multi-centre human research.
The Chair is appointed by the Director of Research (delegated by the Chief Executive) and is responsible for the overall conduct of the HREC in accordance with local, state and national policies and regulations. The Chair provides professional leadership to the SCHN HREC and research community, and partners with the Research Office to develop and deliver strategic initiatives to promote ethical conduct in human research across the Network.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Qualifications (graduate degree or higher) in medicine, ethics, law or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience as a member / Chair of senior level committees, preferably in the health / medical environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior executives, clinicians and managers within a large complex environment, with a proven track record in building rapport and establishing trust.
