What you'll be doing
The NSW CICADA Centre offers Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by drugs and alcohol. It is a lifespan approach within a paediatric tertiary hospital with three clinical streams: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Service, Family and Adolescent and Drug and Alcohol Services.
The clinical psychologist will primarily work within the CICADA Family Service, with children of parents with AOD history, to provide assessment, evidence based psychological therapies, case management and care planning. The position will work within a multidisciplinary team as well as liaise with the patient, family and carers and other clinicians involved in the care of children and young people, interagency collaboration is required with government and non-government agencies such as mental health services, drug health, youth health, Juvenile Justice, Department of Community and Justice, Education, Emergency Department and other health related agencies. The Clinical psychologist may also be required to work with the other clinical streams in CICADA.
The Clinical Psychologist is also a member of the Department of Adolescent Medicine and will be required to perform administrative and professional duties as directed by the head of Department and participate in peer supervision.
- Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, and clinical endorsement with the PBA or eligibility to progress to Clinical Psychology Registrar status with PBA.
- Minimum of 2 years full time equivalent accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
- Demonstrated clinical skills assessing and treating children and adolescents with mental health problems, behavioural disorders and exposure to alcohol and other drugs.
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable families and priority populations.
- Capacity and experience advocating, liaising and sharing information with government and non-government services involved with patients and families.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including documentation in a tertiary health care environment.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated clinical research capacity and commitment to education and training.
