A unique career opportunity exists for a highly motivated enthusiastic Registered Nurse for the role of permanent part time Nurse Unit Manager Level 1. The primary role of this position will be to coordinate unit activity on a daily basis while working in close liaison with the Nurse Manager Emergency department. The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources. The successful applicant will be dynamic and motivated with commitment to the provision of quality care.
What you'll be doing
The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) provides high quality patient care by efficiently utilising resources to manage the clinical operation of the Department/Unit on a shift by shift basis. This includes patient flow, staffing management and co-ordinating and directing clinical care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
The NUM, under the direction of the Line Manager is to:
- Ensure the provision of an appropriate and safe standard of clinical care.
- Assume responsibility for providing leadership, direction and co-ordination of patient care.
- Ensure the effective functioning of the nursing team in the co-ordination of each team member providing care.
- Ensure all nursing staff in the ward practice safely, are competent and work within their scope of practice.
- Assist the Nurse Manager to ensure that the ward is managed effectively and within budget allocation
