About the Role

The Project Manager at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) will provide critical support in implementing and managing the Global Health projects including working with the technical lead to ensure outcomes are being achieved in a timely and efficient manner. Additional roles will include developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration, and managing project timelines effectively. This position may also be responsible for specific key themes to ensure inclusion in project development and implementation as appropriate e.g. Gender Equality, Disability Equity and Social Inclusion (GEDSI). This position is also responsible for the supervision of the Global Health Administration Officer. The Project Manager will report to the Global Health Senior Manager at NCIRS.

The Global Health portfolio at NCIRS comprises of projects funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and multilateral agencies such as Gavi the Vaccine Alliance. Our global health projects provide technical assistance around immunisation policymaking, National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) strengthening, program design & rollout, coverage and disease monitoring, vaccine safety surveillance, health communications, and monitoring behavioural and social drivers for immunisation. 

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration across NCIRS and other Australian partners, including the Australian Regional Immunisation Alliance (ARIA). This collaborative effort will ensure the delivery of technical expertise that supports immunisation and vaccine service delivery in the Indo-Pacific region.

 

About NCIRS

The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance of Vaccine Preventable Diseases (NCIRS) is the leading independent organisation in Australia that provides expert advice on all aspects of vaccine preventable diseases, and other issues related to immunisation, to inform policy, planning, delivery, and evaluation of immunisation services in Australia. We also extend our technical support to countries in the Indo-Pacific region through collaborative efforts with the Australian Regional Immunisation Alliance (ARIA). Our funding primarily comes from the Australian and other state and territory governments, with additional support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Drawing on our expertise in policy and planning for immunisation services, NCIRS will support Indo-Pacific countries in line with key agencies and funders (e.g., The Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade [DFAT], Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the World Health Organization). Our work aims to contribute to the development of safe and effective vaccine use and programs in the Pacific and Southeast Asia.


What you'll be doing

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a public health or health sciences or international development related field with subsequent experience in a health, health sciences or international development environment, or equivalent work experience.
  2. A minimum of two years’ experience in managing global health initiatives or governance frameworks. An understanding of international development and immunisation practices, especially in the Indo-Pacific region, is highly desirable.
  3. Demonstrated project management experience with excellent organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail.
  4. Experience planning and implementing projects across multiple sites with collaborators.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and self-directed across a range of projects.
  6. Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, and ability to professionally maintain productive working and collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders, including domestic and international development partners.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to produce high quality documents and other outputs to meet deadlines.
  8. Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of digital tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), financial software, database systems, and willingness to acquiring skills in new software as needed.
