What you'll be doing

The Child Protection Educator is an integral member within the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, Child Protection Unit responsible for supporting workforce to appropriately recognise and respond to Child Protection and related violence abuse and neglect. 

This includes: 
· Design, develop and deliver and evaluation a child protection training plan for the continuous education for Health Staff and relevant health non-government agencies; 
· Provide high level specialist child protection consultation and support to health managers, staff and clinicians, as well as provide child protection clinical supervision and 
· Assist in a range of clinical projects and other initiatives to improve the quality and effectiveness of the child wellbeing and protection response within the health service.

  1. A Bachelor of Social Work with current membership (or eligibility for) of Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  2. Diploma of Training and Assessment or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40122or upgrading units to a 40116) or an interest in furthering own development in providing education and training to Health professionals;
  3. Demonstrated ability in the design, development and delivery and evaluation of adult education programs;
  4. Demonstrated clinical excellence and experience in and understanding of child protection principles and practice, up to date knowledge of the relevant legislation and NSW Health policies in regard to child protection; proven capacity to analyse, interpret and report on complex clinical and professional issues including relevant use of health data to shape clinical practice;
  5. Highly developed analytical skills including high level skills in child protection and wellbeing risk assessment and decision making;
  6. Effective written, oral and interpersonal skills to enable: (1) engagement with a broad range of stakeholders; (2) build and sustain collaborative relationships and (3) preparation of clear and concise business documents;
  7. Demonstrated ability and motivation to work part of a senior team with minimum supervision
  8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both collaboratively and in isolation, in an environment of high and competing demands with a sound understanding of the NSW health system, its demands, environment and knowledge of a range of health services, with a background in clinical service delivery.
